AYL Mission Statement

AYL Mission Statement

Arlington Youth Lacrosse (AYL) is a community of athletes, parents, coaches and supporters that provides an opportunity for young athletes to learn about the game of lacrosse, develop their lacrosse skills through practice and competition, and to enjoy the camaraderie associated with team play.

AYL is a member of
M
ass Youth Lacrosse (MYL) whose  philosophy is:

“To promote the sport of lacrosse and provide a fun, positive, and enriching experience for youth and parents of Massachusetts, and to play all players “as equally as possible without regard to physical ability.”

Arlington Youth Lacrosse strives to serve a broad spectrum of players -- from the brand new to the experienced.

  • For those new to the sport, we introduce the game and teach basic skills and fundamental techniques.
  • For athletes with more experience, we help them build upon and improve the individual skills and team play concepts that they will need to take their game to the next level -- high school, college, and beyond.
  • Our teams are grouped by grades (1/2, 3/4, 5/6 and 7/8) and balanced by ability.

We "take all comers" to try and expose as many boys as possible to the game of lacrosse.  At the same time, we stress the importance of commitment, hard work, developing one’s full potential, and respect for others -- teammates, opponents, coaches, and officials alike.

This means that athletes that join a team are expected to regularly attend practices, and to commit to learning the basics of the game, within reasonable limits imposed by other important commitments to family and community.

Lacrosse is new to many players and parents, yet there are many similarities with other sports -- particularly those where team success hinges on players working together.
